Students at the Eindhoven University of Technology have built a camper van powered by solar panels.
Stella Vita is a mobile home that generates energy through its solar panels on the roof and uses this energy for both driving and living. Stella Vita generates enough solar energy to travel up to 730 km on a sunny day as well as drive, shower, watch TV, charge a laptop and make coffee.
It was developed by Solar Team Eindhoven, a team of 22 students from the University, which also develops solar powered vehicles for challenges such as the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.

The Stella Vita design has a roof that slides up when stationary. This makes it easy to stand inside to cook, sleep or work. In addition, extra solar panels fold out when the roof is raised, doubling the solar surface to as much as 17.5 square metres.
Partners for the project include CoolBlue, PCBs from Neways Electronics, PolyPlastic and NXP, as well as simulation tool developer Ansys, Engie, Siemens and Vitsch. The project is also backed by Wurth Elektronik, Molex, Hella and STMicroelectronics
