WattIQ has launched a machine learning power analytics tool to manage any device in the nternet of Things (IoT)

Managing the power consumption of devices at scale across the IoT is a major challenge with multiple different technologies. The system developed by WattIQ, formerly known as Ibis Networks, uses smart plugs to gain access to the necessary data.

This allows enterprises to manage devices and monitor their condition every 15s by plugging into the network of connected smart plugs. This allows the monitoring software to be agnostic to the manufacturer or the type of device. The network is connected by wireless Zigbee mesh to avoid having to use the WiFi network at a site.

WattIQ applies machine learning to the power consumption data at the device level, analyzing assets like centrifuges, incubators, HPLCs, vending machines, freezers, and other electrical office equipment as within 60s of being connected to the smart plugs.

It is also possible to pilot or fully deploy the power analytics technology without the need to invite WattIQ onsite to install servers and access points.

"We are building on our roots in energy management at the device level to enable an even bigger sustainability impact by eliminating the waste from severe underutilization of billions of assets,” said Priya Vijayakumar, CEO of WattIQ. “By addressing the pervasive blind spots that still exist in many industries – how often are all our assets being used and when? Are we paying for maintenance on equipment that is rarely used? Which manufacturer has the optimal cost of ownership vs utilization? Could I monitor the health of my devices in a cost-effective way? WattIQ is today enabling customers in the life sciences, higher education and commercial real estate businesses to reimagine their asset sharing, procurement, maintenance and monitoring.”
