Nine channel PMIC for Renesas AI processors
The RAA215300 has six buck regulators, three LDOs and a coin cell/supercap charger to support AI-enabled Renesas processors

Renesas Electronics has launched a power management IC (PMIC) for its RZ/V2L and RZ/G2L AI-enabled microprocessors in a SMARC module

The RAA215300 PMIC has nine channels, a built-in charger and a real-time clock to reduce board complexity and design times.

The RAA215300 has six buck regulators, three LDOs and a coin cell/supercapacitor charger and supports DDR4, DDR4L, DDR3 and DDR3L memory with dedicated VREF, VTT and VPP rails to minimised the use of the LDO. It also uses spread spectrum signals to reduce EMI and has an ultrasonic mode to eliminate audible noise coupling into microphones or speakers.

The PMIC is fully configurable from an integrated EEPROM and a watch dog timer provides secure system power up before any software is running. The integration enables four-layer printed-circuit boards, which reduce costs and speeds up designs as well as increasing system reliability as fewer system components needed on the board.

The RAA215300 pairs with the RZ/G2L, RZ/V2L, power controllers, a USB PD controller and a clock in a Scalable SMARC (Smart Mobility ARChitecture) 2.1 SoM System-on-Module with AI design.

The RAA215300 operates from -40°C to 105°C ambient temperature for industrial applications and sample shipments are available now with mass production scheduled for Q1 2022.
