The BMZ Group in Germany has launched a high voltage modular home energy storage system based on its lithium ion battery cells

The Hyperion system uses Helios modules to store up to 2.5 kWh and range from a basic configuration of 7.5kWh to a maximum of 15 kWh in one housing. This is enabled by 300V operation to reduce losses. The modular structure enables an installer to assemble a system quickly and easily and the operator a high degree of flexibility and cost security.

Specially manufactured Li-ion cells were developed and built by BMZ weighing 22kg. The system (with a suitable inverter) was designed for use in single and multi-family houses through to industrial applications and the high voltage operation avoids the need for a DC-DC converter.

“After an intensive dialogue with installers and end users, the Hyperion system was developed, which is one of the top devices in today's solar storage market,” said Sven Bauer, CEO and founder of the BMZ Group. “Not only the price of the hardware is relevant for us, but above all the manageable acquisition and installation costs as well as low maintenance and follow-up costs have been given to the engineers of the BMZ Group as a guideline,”

Compatibility with the most important providers of inverter systems is also highly relevant. The Hyperion system works with inverters from SMA, Kostal and SUNGROW and for the first time also covers the area of ​​hybrid inverters. This significantly reduces installation and system costs.

BMZ highlights its German service and support, where defective batteries can be picked up by the field service within 48 hours.

The BMZ Group has also been successfully offering a modular system for industrial applications called IndustrieAE that scales from 62.3 kWh to 5 MWh.
