Recom has launched a 3A non-isolated DC-DC converter range in a DOSA-compatible surface mount LGA footprint with adjustable output from 1-24V and input voltage up to 36V.
The RPMB-3.0 series expands the non-isolated DC-DC converter range in the standard 12.19 x 12.19 x 3.75mm DOSA-compatible, thermally-enhanced LGA package. Preset outputs available are 3.3V (trimmable 1-9V), 5V (trimmable 1-9V), 12V (trimmable 9-24V), or 15V (trimmable 9-24V).
“Users can now drop 24V directly to voltages as low as 1V to power sensors, displays and wireless modules such as GPRS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-mesh,” said Steve Roberts, Innovation Manager at Recom.
All variants of the DC-DC converter operate up to 36V input with a low dropout voltage of 500mV or less and operate to 100°C ambient with some load derating but without the need for forced air cooling. The efficiency is up to 94 percent with the full output current of 3A across the entire input voltage range. Efficiency is also high down to very low loads, which combined with a very low quiescent current of 30µA (3.3V version), makes this series suitable for applications that have ‘sleep’ modes such as microcontrollers and transceivers.
This LGA DC-DC converter range also has six sided shielding for low radiated EMI and excellent thermal management. There is also full protection (UVLO, SCP, OCP, OTP) and the ability to drive high capacitive loads up to 0.2F. Power sequencing, soft start, on/off control, remote sensing and a power good signal are also provided.
An evaluation board RPMB-3.0-EVM-1 is available which allows all of the features to be tested with component positions provided to enable filter networks to be developed for an optimum solution for compliance with ‘class B’ conducted EMI levels.Samples and OEM pricing are available from all authorized distributors or directly from Recom.
