With an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C (with derating), the range is aimed at space-restricted, thermally-challenging industrial applications, and medical environments where audible fan noise must be avoided. Earth leakage current is below 100μA which suits the units for BF (body floating) applications.
The efficiency levels are up to 94% and the supplies also have 5VDC standby output, 12VDC aux output, Remote On/Off and Power Good Signal. A range of 7 different output voltages from 12 to 53VDC and a +/-8% output adjustment are available in open frame, enclosed, end fan and top fan versions. The units are certified to IEC/EN/ES 60601-1 3rd edition for 2xMOPP and IEC/EN/UL 62368-1, and pass EMC compliance regulations to IEC/EN/ES 60601-2 4th edition.
“Forced air cooling enables full load operation between -40°C and +50°C. This is derated to 50% load at 85°C. Natural convection-cooling will deliver 320W up to +50°C and 150W at +85°C. Therefore, medical equipment can run in silent mode as there is no need to use a cooling fan,” said Mark Gibbons, Engineering Manager at FiDUS Power. A variable fan speed controller output simplifies control if an external fan is required.
