Leclanché has been testing its 60Ah cells, based around a Water Based Binder (WBB) for the last year. These still use lithium ion and Nickel/Manganese/Cobalt for the electrodes with the WBB rather than a solvent based binder, making them more environmentally friendly to manufacture.
“We are in the process to federate Leclanché technologies to enable large scale production of cells. The lifetime tests on the cells validate over 4000 cycles at 1C/1C continuous charging and discharging at room temperature and 30 minute fast charging. At the same time, the energy efficiency is stable and above 90% with minimal impedance increase. This is

The pouch cells are manufactured at Willstätt in Germany. Finished pouches are assembled into battery modules in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland based on specific customer requirements

The G/NMC cells are used in applications such as the largest electric ferry, the Ellen, currently operating in Denmark. The company also makes LTO/NCA pouch cells for energy storage applications.
