Swedish 50kW fast charger roll out uses ABB tech
Swiss engineering giant ABB is supporting Vattenfall develop a 50kW fast charger network across Sweden with technology for both the fast-charging station and all the necessary grid connection hardware.
Vattenfall is using ABB’s DC 50kW Terra fast charger station in 40 locations to charge the most common battery sizes within 30 to 45 minutes. The fast charger uses open standards to offer a future-proof connection as well as remote monitoring and remote assistance functions via ABB’s Ability software platform.The grid connection includes an outdoor cabinet, busbars, fusegear and switches, all specifically designed to meet the demands of outdoor environments, as well as a dedicated space for a billing meter, which is increasingly in demand by regulators.
The grid connection solution was tested and verified complete as a system, fulfilling regulatory requirements for power distribution in public networks and comes fully assembled from ABB’s factory in Alingsås, Sweden to minimise the commissioning time at sites, speeding up delivery for short project lead times.

ABB entered the EV-charging market back in 2010, and today has sold more than 13,000 DC fast chargers across 77 countries, of which more than 2,000 are 150-450 kW High Power Charging systems for cars and buses.
